The South Carolina Conference requires all instructors of Lay Speaking Ministries courses to receive training in leading and teaching of all Lay Speaking courses.  The following requirements must be met before an individual qualifies as an accredited instructor.
  The individual must be a certified lay speaker.
  The individual must have taken the course for which instructor certification is being sought.  Exceptions are  made to this requirement for newly introduced courses.
  The individual must have the recommendation of the district director of Lay Speaking Ministries.
  The individual must attend the Instructor Training Institute.
   Instructor accreditation is issued for specific courses.  To remain accredited, an instructor must teach the course every three years.

Ashland United Methodist is located at 2600 Ashland Road in the Saint Andrews/Seven Oaks area of Columbia, South Carolina. The following are driving directions from major highways in the area. A map is also shown below.

· Traveling East on I-26:
From Interstate I-26 take St. Andrews Road exit 106. Follow St. Andrews Road uphill approx. 1/4 mile. Turn left (at McDonald’s restaurant) onto Ashland Road. Ashland United Methodist Church is on the left approx. 1/10 mile. Parking is located on the left and right of the main buildings and handicapped parking is in front of the Sanctuary building.

· Traveling West on I-26:
From Interstate I-26 take St. Andrews Road (West) exit 106A. Follow St. Andrews Road uphill approx. 1/4 mile. Turn left (at McDonald’s restaurant) onto Ashland Road. Ashland United Methodist Church is on the left approx. 1/10 mile. Parking is located on the left and right of the main buildings and handicapped parking is in front of the Sanctuary building.

· Traveling East on I-20
From Interstate I-20 take Bush River Road exit 63. Take left onto Bush River Road at top of ramp. Follow Bush River Road west approx. 1 mile and turn right at traffic light onto Ashland Road. Ashland United Methodist Church is on the right approx. 1/10 mile. Parking is located on the left and right of the main buildings and handicapped parking is in front of the Sanctuary building.

· Traveling West on I-20
From Interstate I-20 take Bush River Road exit 63. Take right onto Bush River Road at end of ramp. Follow Bush River Road west approx. 1 mile and turn right at traffic light onto Ashland Road. Ashland United Methodist Church is on the right approx. 1/10 mile. Parking is located on the left and right of the main buildings and handicapped parking is in front of the Sanctuary building.
