Lay Speakers training courses for

Location: St. Johns UMC, Rock Hill
Registration
forms
will be mailed to pastors and Lay Speakers before 31-Dec. Attendees will
need to have their application forms signed by their
pastor, and mailed (with
the $30 registration fee, payable to UMC-Rock
Hill District Office) to Lee Thornton, by
Jan 10, 2012, so that the workbooks can be ordered. Late
registrations may be accepted, but there may be no guarantee of course materials
delivered in time for the course.
Courses:
Basic Course
– This course is the foundation for all the other Learning & Leading Courses.
In this course you are encouraged to discover and employ personal
spiritual gifts as God intended.
Participants are invited to consider the importance of exercising servant
leadership, developing future leaders, remaining rooted in consistent spiritual
practices and being part of a group that holds members accountable in their
discipleship. It offers guidelines
for best practices as a church leader and in mission and ministry in the
community and in daily life. (This
is the first course for beginning Lay Speakers.)
Understanding Men’s Ministry
– This course is a condensed curriculum based upon content and materials used in
the “No Man Left Behind” training offered by “Man in the Mirror”.
This advanced course is offered through United Methodist Men to generate
interest and capacity in local churches for effective men’s ministry.
Materials include the book
No Man Left Behind.
Go Preach!
– This course is designed for lay leaders, pastors, and student pastors who have
not completed formal preaching training, pastors seeking a basic refresher
course, and others who are called upon to preach in a pastor’s absence.
Transforming Evangelism
– Participants learn how to share their faith by telling and doing.
